Sometimes you have to travel a long way to realize that what is important is what’s looking at you in the mirror, yourself. Santa María Briones is a life project, a return to the origins of a family of Riojan origin who, after long wanderings through Spain and the United States, decided to come back home with this boutique hotel in La Rioja. An authentic project based on the lifestyle of our region and the wine culture.
Santa María Briones is a place to live without hurry, a comforting space to reconnect with oneself and from which to discover the vast history and culture La Rioja has to offer. A corner from which to enjoy the golden light of the sunset over the vineyards, the sinuous curve of each meander of the Ebro; the history behind each stone slab, the flavor and aroma of each grape, and the reddish autumn of this land that has tanned hands and bent backs.
Respect for the past and curiosity about the future
Our boutique hotel is located in a 16th-century manor house, listed for its great historical value, situated near the Torreón and the walls of the Cuarenta of the medieval village of Briones. A manor house full of history that we have sought to respect and transmit from the outset and that we have enhanced with the building’s restoration by the architect Ignacio Quemada (Bodegas Campoviejo) and the interior designer Isabel López Vilalta & Asociados.
We have 16 large rooms overlooking the Ebro river, the defensive wall of the town, and the center of the medieval village of Briones. The wall, naturally integrated into the hotel, houses our inner courtyard, creating a space for relaxation and recreation ideal for those moments of respite.
We have also restored the house’s original wine cellar used both for making and storing wine, and the old stone winepress where the grapes were trodden, which we offer as a reserved part of our Allegar restaurant and provides a quiet corner for work meetings and private events.
Loyalty as a way of being
We draw from our region the history, tradition, and hospitality, which are so characteristic of the people of La Rioja as signs of our identity. Plain words, silence, and the peace and quiet of small things, a shared bottle of wine, a conversation in the wine cellar… Small details that work their way into our hearts and transform our stay into an authentic experience in which we reconnect with ourselves. All with our excellent and warm service.
Our primary aim is to provide the calm, tranquility, and comfort our guests are looking for. So our offer is especially aimed at adults (+12) who wish to enjoy a quiet stay.
We also care about the welfare of your pets and can provide kennel services near our hotel, where they will enjoy every comfort.

We deeply respect the environment, the region where we grew up, so social awareness and sustainability concerns lead us to collaborate with cultural organizations and social projects, while we also choose to work with high-quality local products and local professionals.
